Onto turns four and five now. Apologies for the camera glow from the white Tau ships here.
Once again, the board was looking favorable to the Imperials at this stage, with the Emissary hulked and the Protector crippled by a volley of Nova Cannon shots. However the scenario has been favorable for the Imperials so far, which could all change.
Another Tau Emissary ship enters the board close to the crippled Protector
On the other side another Protector AAF’s on from the board edge a whopping 39cm. Both the crippled Protector and the new Emissary open fire on the Gothic, both missing, while the Tau ships launch their torpedoes
At the start of the next turn, my second Gothic comes in just behind the Dominator squadron, trying but failing to AAF into the action, while a Dauntless light cruiser comes in nearer the smaller planet
The Gothic curves round towards the newly arrived Emissary and crippled Protector, seeking to destroy them both. Meanwhile the Dominator squadron, having RO’ed, fires their Nova Cannons at the Tau ships. One shot scatters off the board, while the other only manages to drop shields on them. Now that the shields are dropped, the Gothic opens fire on the Protector (it had failed to brace, while the Emissary had managed to) – 3 points of damage are done and the Protector is hulked.
Meanwhile on the other side of the board, my Dauntless enters the board near some torpedoes – moving through them it takes 1 point of damage after bracing. The other torpedoes converge on the Gothic, which braces, only taking one point of damage
